New charter schools to fragment and weaken public education

Today’s Government announcement of two more charter schools does nothing to help the majority of Māori students learn, and could work to fragment and weaken the public school system.

Rotorua and Taupo teachers are hugely frustrated to hear that a charter school is set open in their rohe next year.

Education Minister Nikki Kaye has announced an increase to the maximum roll of Bethlehem College in Tauranga, and approval for the college to establish a new campus in Rotorua.
